SWHelper to Install HP printer on MacBook Air

What is SWHelper? I am trying to install an HP printer on a new MacBook Air and a window pops up saying: "SWHelper want to make changes. Enter your password to allow this." There is no box for not remembering the password. What is SWHelper? How do I find out the password?

Hello geckoloco,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

Based on what you're seeing this is likely a component of the HP software for your printer. If you have any questions about its function or why it's included, you'll want to reach out to HP directly. This can help with contacting them: HP Support

As for the password it's asking for, this should be the same password as the one you use to log in to your Mac. If you forgot the login password, these steps can help: If you forgot your Mac login password

Cheers!
