Series 8 watch burn

About two weeks ago, while flying home from Florida, I noticed an irritation on my wrist, where I wear my Apple Watch. At first it was just a red area, then it blistered, it gradually dried out, and now the skin is peeling. It looks like I will be left with a faint scar. I have not worn my watch since I first noticed the irritation. I can still see that the area of skin that contacts the sensors has a different texture. I am wondering if it is actually safe to wear these watches- is our skin being irradiated. I have a friend who woke up in pain one morning and found he had a burn mark under his watch. What is going on?

Are you fair-skinned, like me? (I'm a redhead) Seems that fair-skinned people are more sensitive (thinner skin) and the laser lights will burn their skin (it's not the metals). If your watch is still under warranty or within return window, I'd suggest returning it. I had to give mine away. Apple does not provide a way to disable the laser lights. (I also tried FitBit's watch and their laser light also burned my skin).
