Downtime not blocking YouTube App

YouTube app not being restricted by parental controls on my daughter's phone.

YouTube is not on the always allowed list however still acts as though there are no restrictions.

Shows as available when Downtime is enabled and seemingly never enacts when I put time limit on the app.

Hi Chibilink3,

We'll be glad to help you out with parental controls. There's a number of things that could be going on to cause this to happen. While we may not know exactly what's going on, we can use the following options to troubleshoot. Please follow the suggested steps in order, testing between each to see if the issue is resolved:

  • Make sure the affected child(ren) is set up correctly for Downtime and App Limits: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support, and that the Settings are syncing between your device and the child's device.
  • Double check that YouTube and Instagram are not included under the Always Allowed section of Settings > Screen Time > Always Allowed.
  • Enable the "Block at Downtime" option under Settings > Screen Time > Downtime option, as well as the "Block at End of Limit" option under Settings > Screen Time > App Limits.
  • If you use Ask to Buy, turn it off for the affected child(ren) using the Parent device. Wait 60 seconds, then turn it back on: Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support.
  • Change the Screen Time passcode for the affected child(ren).
  • If you use the "Share Across Devices" option for Screen Time, try turning it off on all the devices the affected child(ren) uses, and test.

If you still need help after that, please get in touch with Apple Support directly. You can do that here: Contact Apple Support.

Cheers.
