On my IPAD AIR there is no longer an option to share via WhatsApp. It has been like this for some time now. Any advice please.

The WhatsApp developers have not released an App compatible with iPad - the App being currently limited to iPhone. For this reason alone, you’ll not find WhatsApp listed in the iPad Share Sheet options.
Whilst the App is not available for iPad - you should be able to access the service using a web browser:
