Music app not honoring start and end times on my Mac

I set custom end times on all of my songs in Music. I use iCloud to sync music across my devices including to my phone, laptop and iMac. On my iMac a few months ago it started happening. Now it is also happening on the Mac Mini.

For example, if I adjust a 4 minute song by setting the end time to 2:00 it will simply keep playing for the full 4 minutes.

I have spent much, much time trying to figure this out. I have used methods to reset the music library, I have opened the music app holding down Option, etc..

I have even completely erased the device and started fresh (I subscribe to Match so my music is saved in the cloud).

It seems to me at this point that high resolution songs, Lossless audio, or Dolby Atmos songs just simply do not care about end times.

Is this the case? If it's the way it has to be, then why doesn't Apple explain this? Or, if it's fixable, then why don't they fix it?

I've gotten more and more frustrated with the Music and Podcast apps over time. Oh, and the iTunes Store also has some issues which they don't seem to be aware of. Sigh...
