Unstable HomeKit app

Apple HomeKit doesn’t seem to work. Especially devices using a bridge like Tado° thermostat and Hue lightning lose connection all the time for a long time. This was already the case in iOS 16.2 and 16.3, but 16.4 has made it extremely worse.

Got in contact with Apple Support. And this didn’t help. They blamed it on third party suppliers.

All firmware was up-to-date. All connections were made according to suppliers and Apple standards. So 2.4Ghz WiFi if needed, as the bridges have a wired connection, router had most recent firmware.

It is typical for all bridges to lose connection simultaneously. And all connections are still active in the app of Tado° and Hue. So this gives the impression it is an Apple HomeKit bug instead of a third party supplier bug.

It would be amazing if Apple acknowledges it has a bug and fixes it instead of making it my problem. Please Apple, fix this. I see more comments here regering to similar issues.

Dear SnickZ,

In this case they couldn’t help. We’ve checked everything that according to their knowledge could’ve been done without success. And he has send me to this platform to find help here. Because maybe people would know a solution. Still all devices are frequently off-line for a few or more hours. It happens all simultaneously. And they also go on-line all simultaneously. My mesh system shows it hasn’t been off-line for shorter or longer times.

If Apple support can’t solve it, it should be escalated. As I see more messages about losing connection similar to mine I believe it is a more general problem than just my home. And the way it is now started occurring after the 16.4 update and the new architecture. Although I’m not in the position to see if that is the cause, I can only conclude that there is a problem somewhere under the Apple HomeKit hood.

I just want it to work as I find the features of HomeKit more convenient as those of the accessory manufacturers.

kind regards

Kevib
