Pair Apple TV with bluetooth speaker

The instructions from Apple say to go to Settings -> Remotes and Devices in Apple TV. There is no such tab under Settings. My choices are General, Playback, Files, and Advanced. Under Advanced, it says "Apple TV is not paired with any Remotes." There is no button to connect it to anything.

…and connect to the big screen …

Like HDMI? Or in-app AirPlay? Or Mac AirPlay Screen Mirroring?

For HDMI (Display Port), it may default to sending both to the TV, but you may configure that in System Settings﹥Sound﹥Output﹥ (not in the app) to any of the Mac’s connected speakers.

For in-app AirPlay, connect your bluetooth speaker to the ‘big screen’ instead, as AirPlay will send both video+audio to the same device.

For Mac AirPlay Screen Mirroring, it will default to sending both to the TV, but you may overrule that in System Settings﹥Sound﹥Output﹥.

Is this about your Mac? The related article is for the Apple TV box.

On Mac, connect any bluetooth speakers through: System Settings﹥Bluetooth﹥Nearby Devices﹥

Have the speaker in “pairing mode” (see its manual), then it would broadcast its presence for it to be connected.

Click the [Connect] button in the settings on Mac.

Once paired, the Mac should remember it for a next time, for easier connection (no paring mode needed).
