Relinking media

Hi all,

I've the ol' "red-yellow demons." Somehow an old client project got discombobulated when I archived it. As you can see in the two screen shots, the original media et. al. exists on a DIFFERENT drive than the one upon which I archived the project.

Would a user be so kind as to give me a step-by-step on how to consolidate the media? I know there is a drop-down menu item for that--done it many times before--but I can't get my Mac to find the media. It might be as simple as me forgetting the steps. Any help? I'd appreciate it.

Many thanks!

First, you need to Relink.

File->Relink Files->Original Media

Select All (or Missing), then click Locate, select the folder where the media are, and relink the files.

Once the media appears online, you can proceed to the Consolidate phase:

1) Select the library in the browser sidebar, and open the Inspector

2) Click Modify and choose the desired location for the media - I think you want a folder in the same drive as the one containing the library. You could choose to put the media in the library, but I would advise against it.

3) Click Consolidate.

This make take a while, since the media will have to be copied from one drive to another. Make sure to not quit FCP or turn off your mac until it's finished.
