How do I stop Calendar from suggesting events when I create a new one?

When I add a new event on my Macs, Calendar offers dozens of suggestions based on past events. For example, when I create an event called "lunch," I don't want my calendar to suggest previous events like "Lunch with Dad" (especially since Dad has since died).

I've turned off all the Siri settings, clicked "remove all recent locations and attendees," and deleted the calendar cache files several times through a few different OS upgrades and I've never found a solution.

Plenty of other people have asked about this for the last five years and those threads usually end after one comment. Thanks for helping!

Hey there and welcome to Apple Support Communities doctorjeep,

We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

We recommend checking out this link on how to enable or disable suggestions.

" Use Siri Suggestions in Calendar on Mac

When Siri recognizes events in apps such as Mail, it adds them to your Siri Suggestions calendar. You can delete events from the Siri Suggestions calendar, or confirm an event by moving it to one of your other calendars. You can also turn the Siri Suggestions calendar on or off.

Turn the Siri Suggestions calendar on or off

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Siri & Spotlight  in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
  2. Click the Siri Suggestions & Privacy button, then choose Calendar in the list on the left.
  3. Turn Show Siri Suggestions in App on or off.
  4. Click Done.

When you turn off the Siri Suggestions calendar, any unconfirmed event suggestions are deleted and the Siri Suggestions calendar is hidden."

These steps will help ensure your device is working with ease and can fix common issues like the ones you’re experiencing.

Kindest regards!
