I cannot find the "Radio" section on the iTunes Remote App

I use the remote app to play Apple music from a server streaming music in a few rooms. It works fine but cannot find the 'Radio' section. It is immensely frustrating. Anyone with a solution ?

Set up the iTunes Remote app for Music on Mac - Apple Support

I haven’t used it in a while but I know that I followed the steps in this article above, and I was able to access my entire Music library - but no radio. Unfortunately iTunes remote does not let you access any type of internet radio like what you can find in the Music app; it’s only your own music library.

FYI, I used to use the iTunes Remote and a couple of older MacBook Airs as servers with speakers plugged into their headphone jacks, but I think the whole iTunes software, including Remote, is a bit old at this point. Last year I upgraded to HomePods (found them before Apple ran out of stock after discontinuation) and HomePod minis -which I can just AirPlay to from my iPhone, iPad, or Mac - along with AirPlay-enabled Sonos system for my TV, and I’ve found the experience to be much more intuitive and seamless (AirPlay is really great). If your budget can afford it, I highly recommend going that route, especially because Apple recently introduced improved HomePods with better sound. The full size HomePods really are audiophile-level speakers, and the minis sound great in a smaller room. They support multi-room playback and stereo pairing for wider sound, as well as spatial audio on the larger Pods. Best part is you can access your iTunes or Apple Music library, other songs from Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, News, and of course Apple Music Radio, with your voice or via AirPlay from iPhone/iPad/Mac. That’s my personal opinion and advice based on the best purchases I’ve ever made!

Thanks. That is a shame. I am a bit of hifi nut so have an excessive system (Naim) that I have built up over the years. I use Airplay to Naim Muso speakers and iTunes for streaming, I am not sure how good the quality will be from the downloaded source files to my main system, even though they are 'lossless', it is coming from a mac mini which I don't think will be a good enough source even though it is running into an extrenal DAC. I will see.

I agree Airplay is fantastic. Sonos are also great for an experience, but not my irrational attempt to recreate the sound of recording studios that i used to work in.

You’re welcome. In case this is helpful, there is a cheaper alternative to HomePods that would let you still use your HiFi system. Apple used to sell routers called AirPort, and one model, AirPort Express 2nd generation, has an aux jack and gained AirPlay support in a software update several years ago. While they are discontinued, you can find them on eBay for (in my case) $12-20 apiece and they sound pretty good on my Philips FC-170 from 2001 even without a DAC; I’m sure your setup would sound even better. Make sure it’s the second generation AirPort Express and not the first, and not AirPort Extreme, as these don’t support AirPlay. Then you use the AirPort utility app you can download on your iPhone or Mac and set up the Express; set it up to join your Wi-Fi, not extend it or create a new network, as the Express is an old router that delivers subpar performance (802.11n I believe) by today’s standards. But the whole point of them is that you can just use the AirPort Express as an AirPlay server, from either your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and the Express will play the media, including radio, on the speakers you plug into it. If you use the Apple Home app at all, you can add them as accessories to the Home app and control them from there for more convenience.

While I still recommend the HomePods if you want the best possible lossless, spatial audio Atmos sound quality from true soundbar killer speakers, I agree you can’t beat those older HiFi systems when you’re after a specific sound profile, no doubt. Everybody has different tastes in music it seems; I happen to like both which is why I have both set up!
