You’re welcome. In case this is helpful, there is a cheaper alternative to HomePods that would let you still use your HiFi system. Apple used to sell routers called AirPort, and one model, AirPort Express 2nd generation, has an aux jack and gained AirPlay support in a software update several years ago. While they are discontinued, you can find them on eBay for (in my case) $12-20 apiece and they sound pretty good on my Philips FC-170 from 2001 even without a DAC; I’m sure your setup would sound even better. Make sure it’s the second generation AirPort Express and not the first, and not AirPort Extreme, as these don’t support AirPlay. Then you use the AirPort utility app you can download on your iPhone or Mac and set up the Express; set it up to join your Wi-Fi, not extend it or create a new network, as the Express is an old router that delivers subpar performance (802.11n I believe) by today’s standards. But the whole point of them is that you can just use the AirPort Express as an AirPlay server, from either your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and the Express will play the media, including radio, on the speakers you plug into it. If you use the Apple Home app at all, you can add them as accessories to the Home app and control them from there for more convenience.
While I still recommend the HomePods if you want the best possible lossless, spatial audio Atmos sound quality from true soundbar killer speakers, I agree you can’t beat those older HiFi systems when you’re after a specific sound profile, no doubt. Everybody has different tastes in music it seems; I happen to like both which is why I have both set up!
