iPhone Timer will not sound if auto lock is matches timer setting

I just purchased an iPhone 14 and transferred my data from my iPhone X. My iOS is 16.3.1 The iPhone Timer will not sound if it matches the auto lock setting. I had this same problem with my iPhone X with every version of iOS I had since I purchased it 4 years ago. I hoped it would not reoccur with the iPhone 14 and iOS 16.3.1, but it does.

I have searched the forum and others seem to have this problem as well, but responders trying to help say they cannot duplicate the problem.

This is a real problem. Is there a solution to this other than to set the auto lock to never or add or subtract a second from the desired timer setting, so they do not match?

Thanks for your help

Hello nola_pete,

We understand you have an issue with your Timer when your iPhone locks. We want to clarify the exact issue, then we'll provide some steps to help.

  • Is the Timer canceling completely once your iPhone auto-locks?
  • Is the sound you have set for the Timer playing something different than you expect?
  • Do you have an Apple Watch paired to your iPhone?
  • What is your auto-lock time set for?

We do have a new iOS update out now, iOS 16.4. Let's update first, then test the Timer to see if the issue is resolved.
