No watermark in print menu on Ventura

I had issues getting the Watermark option to appear in Sonoma 14.4.1. I was able to find a workaround. Here is what worked for me.

1) Create a fake AirPrint printer

a) Settings -> Printers & Scanners -> Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax

b) Address => localhost, Protocol => AirPrint

c) Add

2) Open the PDF with Preview and hit Print

3) Make sure the `localhost` printer is selected

4) In my system, the Watermark option appears at the bottom of the Print dialogue.

Takes a bit longer to get to the login screen, does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, including dynamic loader cache, font cache, etc., third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot  as normal and test.  Caches get rebuilt automatically.

To trouble shoot further you can:

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

  This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

Open your image— Command P opens the print dialog..

Scroll to the bottom and spin the carrot

You have to click on the first Print button and in the next window scroll down to the Watermark section:

I also do not have the Watermark option. No idea why. I'm running Ventura 13.3.1 (a) on a 16" MacBook Pro M1. I suppose it could be printer specific - I have a Brother MFC-9970CDW.

It's definitely not there.

I figured it out. If you don't have at least one printer set up, those features won't show, even if you don't actually print but opt to 'save as pdf'. I know because I just removed the one printer I had set up and the watermark feature disappeared. As soon as I added the printer back, the feature reappeared.

Seems silly, hopefully, Apple makes it so that a printer isn't needed to be able to watermark a PDF you're downloading.

Same problem, but solved for me now.

I have a Brother, epson, and HP printers installed and only the HP printer showed the 'watermark' options.

Removed the Brother printers and re-added them and now they show the 'watermark' options too

Open the PDF in Preview. Click cmd+i to open the Inspector panel. Is everything reported green when you click the encryption tool?

You should be able to scroll down the Print window. Maybe post a pic of your Print window, here is what mine looks like.

I tried a second user account - same problem.

I am not able to get the watermark section to show up on multiple of my macs. They all have printers configured and the section is simply not there. This is so annoying!!

Mine looks the same

The current system version available is 13.4.1. It includes a number of fixes.

So update to it and check to see if the problem persists.
