Audio only plays when ringer is on

When i turn my phone on silent mode no sound at all will play, no sound from youtube or instagram or anything. but when i turn it back on everything plays just fine. is there a way to fix this? i hate having my ringer on but i watch a lot of videos and listen to a lot of music. Help is super appreciated, thank you

Ringer in silent mode still makes sound How do I fix my ringer on iPhone 13 to show ringer bar at top of screen when turn left side button off/on and not make sound in silent mode? I went to adjust my volume to silent mode and when pressing the volume button down, the ringer bar on top of screen that usually appears wasn’t there. Then in silent mode, my phone was making sound when I received notifications instead of vibrating.
