MacOS Ventura - Mail won't outdent after pasting in text that is indented

MacOS mail won't outdent after pasting in text that is indented. The toolbar icon to Outdent is greyed out, and it is all lines after the pasted text remain indented, with no option to change this.

I am using MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 (the current latest version). This problem has existed in past versions of MacOS.

Hi Leroy, that is exactly the fix that I use to solve the problem. However this happens so frequently in the work that I do, that it becomes highly frustrating, and Apple needs to come up with a fix. This is an unacceptable bug in what it otherwise a nice email client.

But thank you for replying and providing this answer that might help others.

So paste it into a plain.txt file to strip out the formatting first...

TextEdit.app if your setting are not default to plain.txt then Shift Command T is the keyboard shortcut.

Copy it from TextEdit.app then paste it to your Mail
