CoreAudio crashes repeatedly using audio interface on MacOS Ventura

Hello,

I have found several different threads and posts across the internet about this CoreAudio issue, but I wanted to raise further awareness and see if anyone had found a fix. Core Audio crashes repeatedly after about… - Apple Community

I'm using an Antelope Audio Zen Q Synergy Core, but it happens across pretty much all brands of interfaces and appears to be a MacOS bug, NOT a problem with any external interface. Happens in DaVinci Resolve 18, Logic, even just watching Youtube. After my computer's been on for roughly an hour, I have CONSTANT audio dropouts until I kill CoreAudio using terminal commands, cycle between MacBook Speakers and my audio interface, and then sound comes back... for a few minutes. It used to happen on previous OS, but after the upgrade to Ventura it's pretty much rendered my $2000+ M1 Macbook Pro Max unusable, and I'm now looking to convert back to Windows. If you google "MacOS CoreAudio crash" you'll see this issue has persisted across several different iterations of MacOS, but I was just wondering if anyone had found an ACTUAL fix because having to kill CoreAudio every few minutes is NOT a workaround I'm willing to accept.

You seem to have several different daemons related to audio, and either or them, or the combination of them, may be causing crashes...

I see:

elgato

gingeraudio

antelope

plus other stuff that I am not versed with.

I see several crashes of the "Caster" application, which probably coincide with the coreaudio crashes.

In addition, there are other things that could be conflicting:

you have chrome and its keystone daemons; they are known to cause severe issues with video, and I would not be surprised if they affected audio as well.

you have displaylink software; this may tangentially be related to audio.

I am sorry, but I have to ask: I saw these "AngryMiao" drivers, so I searched for "AngryMiao" - it seems to offer devices like keyboards for almost the price of a Mac... And they do not even look stylish, but rather clunky. Weird.

I imagine you also have audio equipment from them.

With all that combination of audio related stuff, it is very hard to pinpoint one thing that could go wrong; very likely, it is a conflict between these audio drivers.

I'd try installing a clean OS in an external SSD, gradually install the things that you really need, and test.

Thanks for the quick reply! I've attached the Etrecheck report. It's a USB interface, not Firewire, unfortunately. When I ran the check, the audio was already in the crashed state; should I run it again with audio working "properly?"

EDIT: Also, I was watching the console to see which error came up when the audio crashed. This one comes up at the exact moment it crashes, about 100 times:

error 06:53:44.602415-0700 coreaudiod HALS_IOA1Engine.cpp:439 HALS_IOA1Engine::EndWriting: got an error from the kernel trap, Error: 0xE00002EE

Also, when I run my sudo killall coreaudio command, a whole screen of errors comes out on the console. Then when I select MacBook Speakers, another stream of errors comes up. Last, when I re-select my audio interface, a list of errors comes up. However, the audio will start working again after those three steps, for anywhere from 30 seconds to a few minutes, before I have to do that whole process all over again.

Please run Etrecheck and post its full report here.

Use the “additional text” button and paste the report into the text box.

There may be a core audio bug, but there could also be something else. In particular if you are using drivers for old stuff like Firewire interface, these may or may not work reliably in much newer OS.
