photos did not restore from iphone backup

We understand that your photos didn't return after a restore of the backup. This can happen if you use iCloud Photo Library and it is not enabled.

"Make sure that iCloud Photos is turned on

iCloud Photos securely stores all of your photos and videos in iCloud, so that you can access them on all your devices. If you took a photo on your iPhone with iCloud Photos turned on but later turned the feature off, you might still be able to find a missing photo in iCloud Photos.

On your iPhone or iPad

1. Go to Settings > [your name], then tap iCloud.
2. Tap Photos.
3. Turn on iCloud Photos."

If you're missing photos or videos in the Photos app - Apple Support

If you do not use iCloud Photo Library, make sure that the backup was able to complete. If you didn't not see an alert on your computer or iPhone, it is possible that it could have been interrupted.

Do you still have access to the old iPhone (from this backup)? We ask because it will be good to know as we move forward.

Review the following about iCloud backups for more information: What does iCloud back up? - Apple Support (If you were syncing photos with iCloud, they wouldn't be stored in an iCloud backup.)

When you went to the iCloud website: Sign in to iCloud

You mentioned these photos were not available here under Photos, correct? If you have access to the older iPhone, go to Settings > [Name] > iCloud > Photos to make sure it was originally enabled. If not, these photos won't show up in iCloud to sync to the new iPhone.

If you were signed in to iCloud Photos on the older iPhone and you're missing photos on the iCloud website, then it would be best to contact Apple Support directly: Contact Apple Support
