Problem with Imovie and 1080 p files

Hy to everyone ,

In Imovie on M1 Mbp, I don't get the option to export video in 1080p but only up to 720p. The video was recorded on the Xbox Series X via USB stick. In the console settings, the video is correctly recorded in 4K! How can I fix it? Thank you

iMovie only exporting in 720p I've been struggling to export a video to 1080p but iMovie will only let me go to 720. I tried the trick of uploading a 1080p clip in the beginning, did all of the steps correctly, and it won't register 1080p clips as 1080p or let me export them. I reset my iMovie, too, deleted all of its preferences and restarted the program/my computer several times. I'm looking for a different trick or some way to get it through my computer's head that I'm putting in 1080p clips!!!

Option to export as 1080p not working/blacked out I've been editing the film in iMovie on my Mac. I had the option to export any video file to 1080p, but for some reason, the option is blacked out now and I can't export it as a 1080p video. I tried clearing storage on my computer since the option wasn't blacked out in the past, but that didn't fix it. What should I do?

iMovie 10.4.1 Stalling On Export To File Hi, I'm trying to help a friend export a video project to file but the export keeps stalling out with approx. 1/8th of the processing left to go (going by the little pie shaped indicator at least). We've tried it on two systems with the same result: A MacBook Pro 13" M1 2020 & a MacBook Pro 16" M1 Pro 2021 - Both running Sonoma 14.5 & iMovie 10.4.1. We've also tried cutting the video down in size (original was 1:06:18) and this hasn't worked, nor has any of her older projects that exported fine on the prior version of iMovie. We've also tried reseting iMovie and relinking the library but that hasn't worked either. Is anyone else having this issue or have any ideas for a fix?

iMovie sets the project resolution as that of the very first video clip added to a newly created project. So, create a new project, add your 1080p clip as the first clip placed into the project, and then you will get a 1080p export option. Actually, if it is a 4k clip, you should also get a 4k option.
