How do I transfer a video from Sony RX10 iv to iMac running Ventura 13 2.1 software. I connected from the camera to the computer using Sony cable via USB. The video do not display in photos. So I took card out & tried to transfer via card reader. It did not display it either.

I went into London Henry's Camera and got a solution as follows: Connect camera to USB cable. Use FINDER to locate untitled.
Click on Untitled-window opens and click on Private--then on M4 Root-then on Clip. The videos will load.
Open iPhoto and drag video to photos and video will transfer. Works fine for me.

Do the videos play in QuickTime Player?
What is the format of the videos? Does your camera support more than one video format?
Photos is working best with videos with codecs HEVC or H.264. To get an idea, which codecs are problematic on macOS 13 Ventura see this list for iMovie: About legacy media in iMovie for macOS - Apple Support
If you can play the videos in QUickTime Player but not on Photos, there may be a problem with your Photos Library. For example, videos may not play, if the Photos Library is on a volume with an incompatible file system format. If your Photos Library is on an external volume, prepare it exactly as described here: Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support. Particularly, a case-sensitive format of the file system can make it impossible for Photos to access the resource fork with the video component in the container of the video.
Photos does not support the video formats from every camera. Are these videos shot in AVCHD? This format was developed for people who are shooting to edit the material afterwards. If you're shooting to edit, then iMovie or Final Cut are the correct home for this material. If you're not shooting to edit consider using one of the other video formats on your Camera.

I recorded a video in AVCHD and XAVCS HD and XAVC S 4K. None are transferring to my iMac using a card reader or cable via USB. I am wanting to transfer these videos into Photos. Any ideas to solve?
Photos is not the place for them. Into iMovie and precess them and then send the product to Photos.
How do I transfer video to imovie?
So, if you insert the card into a card reader the actual files are not even visible on the card? Where they can be opened or not, they are just not visible?

Any chance that your camera has internal memory as well? If you bring that card to a. Windows machine, can it see them? Do the filenames have a leading period - as in .video_001?
