Album covers jumbled up in Apple Music after transfer from iPhone 6 to iPhone 11

Some time ago I inherited an iPhone 11 and ported all my data from my iPhone 6 to it.

After doing so, I noticed that Album Covers in Apple Music were all mixed up. Not only the wrong albums but even the wrong bands - for instance my Birdy Album now has the Cover for Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures! (see attached).

How can I rectify this bizarre issue?

This does seem to be the only issue - the songs haven't moved and everything plays ok, which is why it's taken me a while to get around to put a question on the forum!

Hello martian68,

If you're not an Apple Music subscriber, then we'd recommend re-syncing this music from the computer you used previously to transfer/sync over this data. Here's how you could do that:

  1. Make sure the computer is up to date.
  2. Connect the iPhone to the computer, locate it in iTunes or the Finder (depending on computer).
  3. Deselect all music from syncing
  4. Sync the iPhone (without music): Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support
  5. Select Music to Sync.
  6. Sync the iPhone (with music selected): Sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod using your computer - Apple Support

This should remove all the music from the iPhone and sync it back. Which should hopefully resolve this issue with your artwork.

Let us know how it goes.

Take care.
