Mail deleted at server

It seems that by accident or some external factor my mail has been lost from the server.

Now I can restore them via Time Manager, but as soon as I go online, they disappear again.

What is a promising solution?

Thanks for your help.

Hello GreatJay,

If mail was deleted from the email server, restoring them via Time Machine wouldn't restore them to the server. If the emails have not been permanently deleted you may be able to retrieve them from the trash. You can learn how to do that here: Delete emails in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

You may find these steps the most helpful:

View deleted emails
Whether you can view and retrieve messages after you delete them depends on how you set options in Mail settings.
1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, choose Mail > Settings, then click Accounts.
2. Select an account, click Mailbox Behaviors, then check the setting for the Trash Mailbox option.
* If a mailbox is specified: You can view deleted messages in the Trash mailbox until they’re permanently erased. To retrieve a deleted message, drag it from the Trash mailbox to another mailbox.
* If None is specified: Deleted messages are removed and aren’t available in the Trash mailbox.

If this is happening with a third-party email service, you may want to reach out to the email service provider to see if there are additional options.

Thanks.

Perhaps you can retrieve the whole folder by this method:

To restore mailbox:

Open Finder

Click “GO” in top menu bar then click option key

Open mail folder

Open V9 (or similar) folder

Then find the folders labeled with cryptic titles (at this point you could open TM if you want to go back in time)

Look down through those folders to find a mailbox (note: there may be more than one with same label).

If it contains email you want you can copy the entire folder to your desktop

Go back into mail and import that folder from your desktop
