Apple is unable to provide any ownership or contact details. Fortunately if you have managed to "exchange'" with another owner you at least know the venue, and might be able to contact the event manager to see if anyone else is on a similar search.

if you bring the AirPods close to your phone and the owner activated lost mode then you can get their information to call them. You should turn on lost mode in find my so the owner can contact you and y’all can trade
