Changing extension .heic to .jpeg on iphone taken photos

How can I change the settings so that photos I take on my iphone have the .jpeg extension instead of the .heic one?

Go to Settings ➜ Camera ➜ Formats and set it to "Most Compatible".

This will make all photos you take from this point on be saved as jpeg rather than heic.

Do note, this creates larger image files for each photo.
