iTunes "gapless" playback

Why am I unable to set the "crossfade" between songs to "0/ZERO" seconds, thereby creating a "gapless playback". I have DJ-mixes in my collection that do the crossfade on their own, and do not need an added "gap". This puts a break between songs, and sounds awful.

Mac OS 10.13.6, iTunes 12.8.3.1, iOS 16.0.3

iTunes gapless playback issue on macos I’m using ITunes on my MacBook Pro M1 and have discovered that some albums (example, Abbey Road by The Beatles) now have gaps between songs where should not be a gap (I.e the original album had 2 or 3 songs strung together as though they were one song). There used to be an option to select which songs should be gapless if ITunes didn’t automatically recognise this but it seems to have disappeared. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Apple Music on iOS can't gapless playback MP3 files. Previously, iOS Music was capable of gapless playback of MP3 files. However, gapless playback is no longer available in iOS17 Music. This seems to be an iOS issue, as iTunes can play the same files gapless with no problem. I hope for a quick fix. The problem still remains in iOS17.2.1.

Hello DJTEMPO,

To start, what is happening when you try to adjust the seconds slider for the Crossfade setting? Is the slider not moving at all? Does it allow you to slide it a little, but won't let you slide it all the way down to 0? Etc.

Fade between songs in Music on Mac

In the meantime make sure you've covered the basics like restarting your system and making sure it's up to date.

Shut down or restart your Mac
