Thank you for your reply. I have read the article but I still can’t get my head around why I need both iCloud storage and device storage? I have 128 GB of iPhone storage on my phone of which I have used barely half and am paying for 50 GB of icloud storage. Is there any point in having both?
iCloud storage and iPhone storage definitely ARE exactly the same thing, which I learned the hard way:
If you attempt to free up storage on your iPhone by deleting photos or videos from device (supposedly “safely stored” on the Cloud, they are also DELETED from the Cloud! Why pay for that kind of storage??!!
Hello ~ You need some iCloud storage to back up you iPhone which I do every night. The storage on your iPhone and the storage in iCloud are two different things.

That is why I asked the question. I have been paying 79p a month to Apple for years and I wondered if it was necessary. Now you are making me rethink.
