I know this has been talked about for months. Mine started with last update. I did all the trouble shooting. Nothing changed. First apple rep did nothing. A senior told me to wipe my phone, restore to factory settings and reinstall. I thought that was a rather extreme response.
my alerts are intermittent. Sometimes I get the tone. Sometimes nothing.
why doesn’t apple fix this? It’s a huge problem.

Setting messages to show on locked screen and Notification Center has solved the problem for me. I'm getting every text alert from Messages. I was not getting alerts from Messenger so hopefully It fixed that.

Have you enabled Scheduled Summary?
Settings > Notifications > [Select the App that you are having trouble receiving immediate notifications]

It's been on that for ages. I looked around and this is a problem going back to last year. This is my text messages so I need them. I did set notifications to show on Lock Screen which I dont really like but I did get a sound this morning so maybe that'll help. Your suggestion does not work. Thanks though.
