Cannot remove iPhone list in contacts app
I don't use iPhone contacts. All my information is in MS outlook. I used to us contacts before I switched a long time ago. My issue is that if I go to contacts app and look at the lists I have, there is a list called iPhone which is empty. I can't seem to get rid of that entry labelled iPhone. Somehow, I did do it on my wife's identical iPhone but sadly I can't recall how. Both are iPhone 12 with iOS 16.3.1.
I did a reset of the phone and restored from backup, but the iPhone list name is still there and the list itself is empty since I don't backup these contacts. I tried allowing the phone to backup contacts to iCloud, but that just produced a third list named iCloud. Fortunately, when I turned off the contacts backup, the iCloud list disappeared.
A suggestion from apple support was to reset the phone and then reinstall my apps instead of restoring from a backup. I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle.
I wonder if I delete the contacts app and reinstall it, would that fix the problem.
I know it's a stupid issue, but it's irritating (I'm too much the perfectionist).
Any advice?
Thanks
George
