What do you mean by "looks ok"?

...To be clearer, this icon is the Settings app:

...Tap it to open Settings app. Then scroll down to Battery and tap it. Then tap Battery Health & Charging and tell us what the Maximum Capacity % is. If its value is only "––", let us know that.

Hello rraymond01,

We would like to see how we can help you with your iPhone calls not being heard at first. Please back up and update to the latest iOS, 16.3.1, and let us know if the issue persists. The steps in this link will walk you through the process: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.
  6. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Get back to us with your results after updating so that we have a better understanding of the issue, and we can go from there.

Cheers!

Hello rraymond01,

Have you tried restarting your iPhone? This simple step resolves a multitude of issues: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

"How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later

Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.

Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.

To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo."

If that doesn't help, does this happen in all locations or certain ones?

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

Thank you. I am currently up to date one phones OS. 16.3.1. Today I lost incoming sound for about 10 sec in the middle of a phone call. I don't think it's my cell phone service provider because my wife and I have the same provider and she is not having these issues.

I use vice memo to record myself... and get a good voice memo... Again the issue is intermittent.
