Unable to reinstall macOS with a new/different Apple ID

I'm helping a friend reinstall its macbook pro.

He had changed his old apple ID because the email no longer exists. Since then, with the new apple ID he created, he mentioned to have often issues installing new app or accessing apple tools like Apple Store.

I thought reinstalling was the right way to start clean. It's an Early 2015 macbook pro and the OS was Monterey.

Now I formatted the disk and, through Internet, it make me install with Yosemite.

However, from Yosemite if I try to update the OS, it gives me the exact same problems my friends had when I try to user his new Apple ID, or mine for what it worths.

Can you help somehow ?

Tks

Daniele.

It’s not possible to transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another, so anything he had license through the Apple store previously on the old Apple ID is no longer accessible with the new Apple ID.

Kenny stills sign in to Apple id.apple.com, using the old Apple ID?

You would need to disassociate all devices from that old Apple ID.

probably will need to contact AppleCare and try and figure it out through them. The best option would’ve been changing the email address on that Apple ID, but I realize if you can’t access the email it probably will send a confirmation to that email if you don’t have another recovery email set up.
