How do I reset an Apple Watch Series 2?

I have an Apple Watch Series 2. It is no longer paired to any of our phones. We have forgotten the passcode and have made too many attempts to unlock it. It states we need to reset it and pair again, but the steps I'm finding to reset it do not work. I hold the button and get the option to power off or SOS. I press and hold the crown and it does nothing. Is there a different set of steps reset the Series 2 Watch?

Apple Watch Series 2, watchOS 6

Specifically for OS6

"If you can't access the Settings app on your Apple Watch because you've forgotten your passcode, put your Apple Watch on its charger, then press and hold the side button until you see Power Off. Firmly press the Power Off slider, then lift your finger. Tap Erase all content and settings."

This is different than the OS9 procedure.
