Error Code -36 (I can move files from iCloud Desktop to local HD but not folders)

Whenever I try moving a desktop folder to anywhere else on my local HD, I get the "Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "folder name" can't be read or written (Error code -36). Now I know this issue has been reported and discussed on the forum, among other places. However, the troubleshootings' that seem to have worked for others have not worked for me and I've been trying to work this issue out for days now. I've tried resetting iCloud by logging in and back out, checking and unchecking the syncing of Desktop & Documents folders, enable and disable Optimize Mac Storage, etc. All with computer restarts in between. I also tried reinstalling the OS, deleting finder plist files on the library preferences folder, and went as far as subscribing to CleanMyMac X to see if I have any malware or anything else messing my Mac up. No luck!!

As mentioned in the title, I am able to move any file out of the (iCloud) Desktop to my local hard drive, but I cannot move any folder (even if its an empty folder created just for testing) into any other folder inside my MacBook's internal system drive. I get the Error Code -36. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
