iPhone 14 plus can not receive SMS text

Hello. I have having problems with iPhone 14 plus with Verizon. I purchased a new device that had numerous problems (Verizon rep and an apple care rep both could not rectify issues). Verizon shipped me a different device which is also experiencing problems- this device cannot receive text messages from non iPhone users. I have spent a sum of over 6 hours on multiple calls and still not working. Any ideas? Am about to give up on the 14 plus and downgrade to either the 14 or a 13 if this is a problem with the Plus.
