Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found

Anyone ever find a solution to this issue? Only happens when a “sponsored” ad is clicked when googling. Is it Safari? I’ve also tried everything I can find on the web.

What happened when you tried the solution given in the discussion thread ?

ie: said:

"I went to Safari Preferences>General> and noticed that "new windows open with:" was filled in as START PAGE. I changed that to HOMEPAGE and set HOMEPAGE in the next blank to https://www.google.com/

Works like a charm now when I open a new page."

Else:

Have you tried turning off any ad-blockers or Safari extensions you may have installed. Third party (non-Apple) virus-checkers & apps can interfere. Even VPN can cause issues

Here’s what’s happening: I google something. The top results are tagged “sponsored ad” if I click one of those, I get the attached. Note in the url bar it says “googleleadservices.com”. I’m guessing that’s the culprit but I see no way of turning that off. I suppose I could use a different search engine…

Nope. I searched and read all the articles I could find (I mentioned I tried everything I could find on the web, including here in apple communities to no avail). Thank you for the link though. I see many many others have this same problem. It’s not random. It only happens when I click a sponsored ad for google leads. If I scroll down in the search results and find that same result that’s NOT an ad, it works fine.
