I have a Macbook Pro 2023 (OS 13) and an iMac 2012 (OS 10.15) and I need to mirror the macbook screen on the iMac with thunderbolt cable.
I can't use target disk mode because of the age difference, but I need to use cables rather than wifi.
Any suggestions would be great. Cheers

Target Display Mode is not supported for main Macs after 2019 models.
Connect Ethernet cables and use Mac screen sharing. it works fine over vast disparities in years and MacOS differences -- but you will be running MacOS on EACH machine.

Yes, its a CAT 5. But the lag is just too bad. I am going to try the Luna Display dongle and a USB-C to Mini Display port cable to see if that is faster.

This worked, but I have realised that I need to get the iMac to be the second display as screen mirroring just has too much lag.
¿do you have a four-pair cable between the two computers?
A two-pair cable will be limited to 100 M bits/sec, where a four-pair cable can go Gigabit speeds.
