A quick web search using your question uncovered this result: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/digital-voice-recorders-icd-series/icd-p520/articles/00013977
The device may not be compatible with your current OS.
Does the device have a removable memory card? Maybe there is a way to use that to transfer your digital audio files?

Your ICD-P520 has a USB interface. Connect it to your Mac and see if it is recognized in System Preferences > Sound > Input. If it is recognized, you should be able to record using the built-in QuickTime app or any other audio recording app. You would need to do this manually, starting the QT or other audio app first, then initiating playback on the P520.
If that doesn't work then the only alternative would be to use the headphone jack (analog audio out) connected to an analog-digital converter, in turn connected to your Mac.
The Sony Digital Voice Editor software is old and is only for Windows; it is not compatible with Mac.
Here are a few of the 'better' analog-to-digital audio converters:
Scarlett 2i2
Behringer U-Phoria UMC202
Presonus Audiobox
M-Audio M-Track Solo
... and similar
There are also a number of inexpensive "external sound card" adapters that should work, but I do not have enough experience with them to recommend any specific ones.
