Keyboard and Trackpad stop working after laptop enters sleep mode

My MacBook Air M1 2020 laptop has developed a problem.

When the computer is either manually put to sleep or automatically goes to sleep, the keyboard and trackpad don’t work when it wakes up.

If you reboot the computer, both the keyboard and trackpad work once again, but as soon as it enters sleep mode the problem recurs.

I can obviously change the settings in system settings to prevent the compute going to sleep, but this is only really a short term solution.

I have looked at some online forums, and this appears to be a known issue, but I haven’t been able to find a solution based on what I have read.

Does anyone know how I might be able to remedy the problem.

Many Thanks

Peter

If you are under AppleCare, have it investigated. Some autnorized service providers may look at it with a fee, but a least it isn't vintage, so parts are easy to come by.

Energy Saver may prevented from waking up if peripherals are complaining about not getting enough power. If you have anything connected besides power, don't leave it connected while the machine goes to sleep. Determine what needs extra power that is weakened by sleep, by isolating each peripheral one by one.
