How to clean up leftover files from old programs?

I have a new Macbook Air that I configured using the backup of my previous laptop. However, I now realize that over the years, there are a number of programs that I stopped using and have deleted them (Finder | Applications | Move to Trash). Not sure why, I did a search for one of the old programs and came up with files which belong to the old program. That made me try to remember everything I have at one point tried out and then deleted. I would like to get all of these leftover files and see what else I have forgotten about. There are third-party programs that advertise they do this, but so are also a bunch of people recommending to stay away from them.

Is there a way to have MacOS clean itself up of orphaned files? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

MacBook Air, macOS 13.2
