"Components" folder empty

Hello

I've downloaded to AU plugins for GarageBand but (a) they do not appear in the plugins dropdown in GarageBand and (b) no files appear in the Library\Audio\Plugins\Components folder. And yes, I'm logged in as a user. Is this an Apple Support question?

FYI, this is NOT for logic but GarageBand, but Apple didn't give me the option to choose GarageBand

Garageband shows "audio file not found" for pasted clips after re-opening saved file When I move a clip to a Garageband file, then edit and save - it's all fine. But when re-opening that file, either immediately or a little later, one or more of the pasted audio files give 'file missing' error. Even if the file has opened successfully several times since they were pasted in. This is a new problem since the OS Venture Upgrade (It seems) but perhaps there was a Garageband update too that instigated it. This obviously sucks because all of a sudden key files are gone and project needs to be recreated. Any Ideas?

Audio MIDI Setup: Custom icons in Monterey? It used to be within the \users\<user>\library\audio folder there was a sub-folder called MIDI Devices. You could add icons to that folder that would show up in Audio MIDI setup. I no longer have that folder in Monterey, and yet the custom icons I added in previous OS versions are still showing up. I want to add new ones, but Search seems unable to find any of the MIDI folders in the Library (permissions issue?). Any ideas? The only other topic I've seen here talks about Ventura, but I'm on Monterey and the steps in the Ventura topic don't work. Environment: Mac Studio M1 Max - OS 12.6.2 (Monterey)

Garageband 10.3.5 "open recent files" is empty Using Catalina... Garageband does not save my recently opened files. Also, under File there is not an option to open recent... as other threads have suggested I cannot find any file called com.apple.garageband.plist anywhere on my drive. I have also read someone saying re-adding themselves to the home folder helped, but I cannot find how exactly to do that. Only using one disk drive. Can anyone help? Thank You MacMini Late 2014

• there are two components folder on your Mac, you may check both

/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (this is the system)

and

~/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components (this is your user account)

• you wrote, you have "downloaded" the plugins. Did you install them , too?

Thank you! I'll try that. As for installing, no, not yet. That's what I'm trying to figure out at this point. Is there an easy workflow for that?
