suggested strong password is not saved in Keychain and not autofilled

copying a question from 2 years ago as the issue still persists.

Safari encourages you to use the strong password it offers when you are setting up a new password for a website or resetting a password and the dialogue says it will be saved in your keychain.

However the suggested strong password is not saved in Keychain and not autofilled unlike the manually created passwords.

Also, because the end of the strong password just fades out, you can't even write it down.

The result is that next time you log in, you have no idea what the password is and have to mess around setting a new one.

i experience this bug currently when trying to reset my password at www.evernote.com but it happens constantly on many other websites as well.

Thanks for the reply however, I think my question may not have been clear.

When I set up an account using a suggested strong password, it is never saved. So next time I go to log in, often only minutes later when activating the account by clicking the emailed link, the username or password do not autofill nor are they even stored in the keychain.

Why does it not save the password that is suggested?

If you click the password and then click "Edit strong password" it will let you copy it to your clipboard just incase it doesn't save. Sometimes after the account is created if you click a link within the same page or refresh the page in Safari you are asked if you would like to save the password.

Another method is to create the strong password within the passwords manager in settings on your iOS device or Mac and manually type in the website.

Hey there Farmer_panda,

We'd like to help out.

If you chose to use a suggested password and it's saved in iCloud Keychain, you can use the steps and resource below to help finding these passwords. You can also choose to delete or update the password. Follow here:

1. Tap Settings, then select Passwords. In iOS 13 or earlier, select Passwords & Accounts, then tap Website & App Passwords.
2. Use Face ID or Touch ID when prompted, or enter your passcode.
3. To see a password or passkey, select a website or app.
• To delete a saved password or passkey, tap Delete Password or Delete Passkey.
• To update a password or passkey, tap Edit.
