Copy music from iphone to MAC

Few years ago I copied all my CDs onto our family iMAC. Then onto my iphone.

Our family iMAC got wiped out and I want to put the music back onto it, from my iphone to the iMAC and probably onto my daughter's new iphone.

The MUSIC app on our iMAC sees my iphone when I connect it but refuses to either play a song from it, or add the songs to a playlist, or copy the music from the iphone to the iMAC.

Do you know how to do it (without adding all my CDs one by one onto the iMAC again, which took me last time several weeks) ?
