Suddenly unable to search for keywords within a file in the files app

Hi there,

Recently (I’ve noticed in the past month and a half or so) whenever I am in a pdf file in the Files app, I am unable to search the file for keywords like I used to be able to. When I hit the search icon, the search icon disappears, but no search bar appears for me to type in. This happens in all my pdf files in Files and is becoming increasingly annoying as I have to manually search the file. Is there a fix for this on my end or is it a bug?
