HOW DO I FIND OUT WHO THE CARRIER WAS

I got an Iphone13 for a gift its locked buy a carrier. I don't know who the carrier is how do I unlock the phone for free.

Check Settings > General > About > Carrier

what if I don't know the carrier? I want to unlock iPhone 13 mini, and I don't know the carrier because it was not bought from a retail store, how can you help?
