Mercedes MBUX, apple CarPlay and an old iPod?

I am thinking of buying an iPod to put all my old cds on to via iTunes. I have a 2019 A class with MBUX and apple CarPlay. I can connect my iPhone 8 via a usb c cable to use maps, and apps like Amazon music. Can I connect an apple iPod (not touch) and play music? Thanks.

How do I transfer music from an old iPod to a refurbished 128GB iPod using a third-party app? I have an old 32 gb iPod that cracked and decided to upgrade to a128gb. Apple has discontinued Ipod so settled on a refurbished one. The problem now is that I can’t transfer the music to the new IPod on ITunes. You will have to make sure, that CarPlay supports an USB port in your car as a source to play music from your iPod classic.
