Siri name this tune song identification not working
For several years Ive been able to ask Siri ‘what song is this’ or ‘name this tune’ then maybe two years ago I realized just saying Shazam did the same thing, Siri listens then identifies the song. Ive never downloaded the Shazam app. Since updating my iPhone 13 to iOS 16 saying ‘shazam’ to Siri does not work. Siri responds with ‘it doesnt look like you have an app named Shazam.’
The problem with saying ‘what song is this’ is if you have an app with music open (not playing) Siri just tells you what song you have open in whatever app and then have to quit all music apps and ask again trying different phrases until Siri starts listening.
The most ridiculous part is once Siri finally understands your asking to name the song playing the popup says ‘Shazam Music Recognition’ and the button I added in control center says Shazam too. So obviously you dont need the app as Shazam is built into iOS for years now. So frustrating when Siri says hmmm you dont have a shazam app.
basically why has apple removed the Siri ‘shazam’ song ID prompt from iOS. It worked every time and Siri doesn't always understand what ‘what song is this’ or ‘name this tune’ means. Saying ‘shazam’ was such a nice short convenient and hard to misunderstand prompt. I see no reason to take that out of iOS.
is this the same for everyone else?
