How do I stop texts to my phone also going to my iPad?

Salutations stanfromharrogate, 


There are a few places to make some changes - 


1. On your iPad sign out of iMessage. Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, then tap your Apple ID and sign out. 

2. On your iPhone in Settings > Messages turn off your iPad under Text Message Forwarding. 

3. If enabled, disable Messages for iCloud on your iPad in Settings > your name > iCloud > Messages.
