restoring messages from backup
Is there a way to restore message from backup, either from a backup that was saved to a Mac or in iCloud?
I don't want to do a full restore of the phone, but I would like to restore one message thread.

If "Messages" is turned on in Settings, [your name], iCloud, (show all) then they will re-sync from iCloud.
If not sync'd to iCloud then they should restore with the backup. Bit iffy, that one.
If you want to restore individual lost threads then it's almost impossible
