Freezing & Hanging Problem after the latest update 16.3.1 in Iphone 12 pro max

Please. I can't back up my phone because it doesn't stay alive long enough. I've tried taking it to a genius bar and we've restored the operating system via one of the store's MacBooks. It didn't help. I think it's just a flaw with 16.3.1.

I'd do a full restore, but stupid me hasn't backed up their phone for two years, and I don't want to lose what I have. Is there another solution?

With the phone being unusable, I've had to make an hour drive each way to the nearest authorized repair location both Friday and later today. Authorized repair said it will need to be replaced and I've had to spend $600 to do so. Adding all up I've had to spend an 4 hours on the road plus $600 to rectify a situation that @Apple pushed down via this update. Very disappointing to a loyal @Apple customer.

if this is a sneaky way to make me upgrade, it worked. I'm not happy about it, but I've gone out and bought a 14 pro max and I'm slowly (and manually) moving everything over to my new phone.

And what I've discovered now is that I can't even shut the 12 off?????? Has anyone else tried that? It goes to a black screen after shutdown and then immediately turns itself back on.

updated to 16.3.1 this morning. Phone freezes and restarts on it's own. I've done 4 manual restarts and still have the issue. Help!

iPhone 12 Pro Max. Updated this morning as well, only been on for about 6-7 hours, and I've had it freeze over a dozen times now. Have had to hard restart it manually almost every time.

@Creesic - exact same issue. phone doesn't stay alive long enough to back up. It's very frustrating. Can't use my phone at all. Please help @Apple
