finderhelper.app Dropbox Google Drive

Every since Dropbox was moved to the library, I've lost my ability to sync files in Dropbox to an external drive. Even having problems copying and pasting files from Dropbox to external drive. I'm not comfortable not having a extra archive of files. I considered Time Machine but apparently it can break Dropbox and wreck havoc on files there, possibly destroying them because of sync. I have managed to copy files, a few folders at a time to Google Drive. That works although there's no synch. I installed the Google Drive app so I would have sync, but now I get the following error window ("FinderHelp.app" wants to access files managed by "Google Drive." Google Drive has full disc access and I can't find FinderHelp.app anywhere. So I don't know how to fix this. All of this is brand new since both Dropbox and even Google Drive are within library/iCloud. It is such a pain. Can someone direct me to information about how to deal with all this?

Hello hikejo,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, you've lost the ability to sync files to Dropbox and get an error message saying FinderHelper.app wants to access files managed by Google Drive. You've come to the right place for help.

To make sure they aren't related to anything harmful, we'd recommend running Malwarebytes on your Mac: Malwarebytes for Mac

After installing scan the Mac, it will remove anything harmful, then restart the Mac.

If you've recently installed any secure and known apps on your Mac, these could be related. You may want to contact those third-party developers for more information: How to contact an app developer
