Colour palette not available after I double tap my apple pencil

On Notes after I double tap my apple pencil the colour palette isn't available to use.

Hey Sarahlouiseevans,


Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. If the color palette isn't appearing as expected when double-tapping your Apple Pencil, check to make sure the setting is still set to "Show color palette". Those steps are found under "Double-tap Apple Pencil (2nd generation)" here: Use Apple Pencil with your iPad - Apple Support


If that doesn't help, quit the Notes app and restart your iPad to see if fresh connections help to resolve this. Here are some guides to help, just in case:


  1. Quit the Notes app using these steps: Quit and reopen an app on iPad - Apple Support
  2. Then restart your iPad with these steps: Restart your iPad - Apple Support


After those steps, see if the color palette then shows. Here's a guide on using the Markup tools too: Draw in apps with Markup on iPad - Apple Support
