How do I reset my iCloud password if the only thing it does is lock my phone

You can reset your iCloud password using iCloud.com the iForgot option.
Go there and click sign in, then click forgot Apple ID or password.
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
Your Apple ID is your iCloud account. Thanks.
