How to move multiple folders from multiple files to one file.

Hello,

I copied over 1,000 photos from my iPhone to my Mac Mini to archive them. However, the Mini placed each photo into a separate folder.

Is there an efficient way to collect and move all the photos into one folder?

I attempted the Apple Communities solution given in 2015, but the "Find" feature in Finder came back with zero results.

Thanks.

Mac mini, macOS 12.4

The most efficient way would have been to "Import" the photos into the Photos App on your Mac mini.

You can still do that if the Photos are still on your Phone. If not, then you should be able to Import the photos from Finder into the Photos App.

Any pattern to the naming of those folders in your Downloads folder, or the filenames, or filename extensions within them?

How much storage left on your startup drive after dumping those 1000+ files there?

When you use Apple's Image Capture application, it uses the DateTimeOriginal time stamp from the internal image's EXIF data for the files' macOS creation date. Just draging the files over circumvents that and the UNIX system time is used for the creation date instead.

I'm at a loss as to how they ended up in your downloads folder.

If the photos are still on your iPhone? You can just delete them from your download folder and then properly Import them into the Photos App on your Mac mini. Or at the very least, backup your iPhone to your Mac mini to protect the data on the iPhone.
